Folli
Western Maple, Leather, CNC & Laser-Cut Fabrication
Folli Bench was developed in a Core Studio at Emily Carr University of Art & Design, led by professor Christian Blyt, under the brief an (in)Complete Seat. The design reimagines seating as flexible and adaptable, embracing Wabi-Sabi principles while encouraging social interaction.
A defining feature is its adjustable backrest supported by a scroll mechanism, allowing the seat to transform into multiple positions, from a lounge to a diagonal style or a standard bench, supporting gatherings and varied user interactions. The bench also incorporates a ready-to-assemble (RTA) system, making it compact, portable, and easy to move between spaces.
Design Highlights:
Adjustable conical backrest for multiple seating positions
Bent-laminated maple legs for structural strength and softness
RTA mechanism for portability and compact storage
Integration of digital and traditional fabrication methods
In collaboration with Samantha Fuller, Eliana Carlos and Estefania Santos.
